Pfeiffer Brewing Co., D.B.A. Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co., St. Paul, Minnesota - "The Brew That Grew With The Great Northwest" -No Alcohol Statement, American Can Co., Keglined oval. 12oz Flat Top, Air Sealed, Grade 9.5. This can is a work of art by Minnesota native Duck Stamp artist Les Kouba. The Moose is one of the original 4 scenes he painted in the early 1950s for the Jacob Schmidt Brewing Company, who used them to promote their flagship "Schmidt Beer". Like many of Kouba's scenes for Schmidt, this work shows western culture's rapid transformation the natural wilderness of the Northwest. At the time the scenes were interpreted as a showcase of progress. But look closely and you will see Kouba's subversive messages. In this painting, the moose, clearly the hero, scowls over his shoulder as the loggers clear-cut his forest home. The Schmidt Scenic series is an under-appreciated set of cans. Light scratch above the "idt" Beautiful new top lid installed by master can craftsman Art LaComb.

Unless otherwise requested, shipping will be fulfilled via USPS or UPS. Insurance on winnings of over $50 is required, as is a handling fee, to cover to cost of labor and materials. Generally, this is 50¢ per can, $1 per tray and bottle, $10 per wooden crate. Medium-sized signs will require a $5-10 handling fee. The handling fee for large items could be quite a bit more. Shipping charges will be combined for multiple lots, of course.
